Baltic amber, is a fossilized tree resin originating from the Baltic Sea Region of Lithuania, near Russia. When worn against the skin, Baltic amber warms slightly releasing it's natural oils into the system. The therapeutic compound within the oils of Baltic amber is succinic acid (succinum,) which is present in the human body naturally. Succinic acid is an all natural pain analgesic/ pain reliever, so introducing Baltic amber to the body essentially gives one's body a boost of it's own natural pain-fighting agents! While all amber contains succinic acid, only Baltic amber contains enough succinic acid to be considered therapeutic in cases of pain relief.As with most natural and homeopathic treatments, experiences can be different for everyone. Our measurements indicate the length of the piece of jewelry, from tip of one clasp to the other. Using a soft measuring measuring tape, measure your child to determine what length will be best. Your child's necklace should fit not tightly, but also not so long they can pass the necklace over their chin and into their mouth. Amber is a soft material that will break when chewed, and gemstones are a hard material that will break teeth if chewed. The most popular size necklace for very young children is 12", which should fit from infancy until age 2 to 2 1/2. Older youth and adult sizes are personal preference.
We strongly believe in safety and most especially in our chldrens line. Each amber necklace is hand-knotted in between each bead as a safe guard. In the event the jewelry were to break, only one bead will come loose, which minimizes the chance of a child swallowing beads. It is important to inspect jewelry regularly for broken beads or other issues. Children's jewelry is also made with safety break-away points, but that does not mean that it will do so easily. Amber jewelry is NOT intended to be chewed! Please watch for your child putting amber jewelry in the mouth. If a necklace can reach a child's mouth, it is too long! See below for information on choosing the correct size for your child.Please use common sense when using jewelry on children. It is to be used under supervision only!
To lengthen the life of (and consequently, maximize the benefits) your Baltic Amber jewelry, it's important to properly care for your pieces:
Do not use harsh chemicals or jewelry cleaners/solutions.
Do not store your amber jewelry along with metal jewelry as it may cause the amber beads to chip, crack and break.
Remove your jewelry and/or avoid using body care products in the areas you wear your amber jewelry that will coat the jewelry, such as: hairsprays, gels, lotions, etc. These types of personal care products can not only dull the look of your amber jewelry, but also they can affect the therapeutic effectiveness by coating the stones and inhibiting the release of the amber's natural oils.
It is generally ok to shower or bathe with amber jewelry on. Just keep in mind you need to avoid the jewelry coming in contact with body care products which can coat and damage the beads.It is recommended that amber jewelry be removed before swimming in chlorinated pools and spas.
It is a good idea to remove jewelry any time it will be wet for long periods as it can damage the thread and clasps to soak your jewelry for long periods of time.

Custom orders as well as personalized or sized items, cannot be returned. Engraved items are final sale and may not be exchanged or returned. Gift cards are not returnable. Original shipping and return shipping charges cannot be refunded.
